International book exchange is an important source of foreign publications for libraries.
At the time when book exchange with many Russian and CIS libraries has shrunk, The Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology continues being a strong player in this field. The Library collaborates with 500 partners from over 40 countries worldwide, including national and research libraries, scientific and technical societies, associations, unions, research institutes, universities, journal editorial boards, and publishing houses.
The Library's most active partners in book exchange are:
– The Library of Congress, Washington DC, United States
– Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH, Germany
– Oxford University Press, Oxford, Great Britain.
International book exchange is meant to enhance library collections by publications which bypass the book trade network, such as unique monographs of research institutes and societies; proceedings of scientific conferences and symposiums; scholarly papers, and other publications on latest research results.
The Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology receives proceedings and materials of special interest from Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (Germany), The Institute of Space and Astronautic Science (Kanagawa, Japan), The Japan Atomic Energy Agency (Tokai-mura), The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA, Vienna, Austria), Linda Hall Library (Kansas City, United States), The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Sofia, Bulgaria), The National Library of Poland (Warsaw, Poland), The London Mathematical Society, etc.
As a rule, the publications received are in the print form, but they are increasingly provided to the users via Internet as well.
We welcome new partners!
